The new Nvidia RTX 30 Series is going to change the Gaming platform by miles. Gaming has become new Future. There are mainly two types – PC Gamers and Console Gamers. First talking about Console gamers. The Console devices like Xbox and PlayStation has been in market especially and only for gaming purposes. So the CPU and GPU are custom built for those console. Xbox and PlayStation used AMD’s Zen 2 CPU and AMD’s Custom RDNA 2 GPU which are only used in Consoles.
PC Gamers on the other hand have their own choice of CPU and GPU. The more powerful you want to make, the more money you needed to spend to upgrade your PC. The most expensive component is of course the Graphical Processing Unit. There are only two Companies which manufacture GPU – AMD and Nvidia. Nvidia is leading in the GPU market. But also Nvidia was way costlier than AMD. Mostly new gamers who were on budget had to either buy lower to mid end GPU from Nvidia or comparatively less performing GPU from AMD. On the other hand those who wanted a device specifically for gaming were moving towards Console Gaming.
Console gaming was budget and user friendly for new Gamers. A new Console would be cheaper than a custom built gaming CPU or even than the GPU itself. For example an Nvidia RTX 2080Ti alone would cost around $1200 whereas Xbox and PlayStation cost around $500. It meant you could buy two console for the price of a single GPU.
But it did not stop here. With the launch of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series, the way people used to think Gaming PC built as very expensive product has changed. Not Only the new GPU costs way cheaper than previous RTX 20 high end series, the performance also has improved drastically.
New RTX 30 Series
Nvidia’s new Ampere Architecture based GPU are 3070, 3080 and 3090 have shaken the market by storm. Ampere Architecture is successor to Volta Architecture. Volta Architecture was not used on consumer based Graphics cards. It was first to feature tensor cores but was used in datacenters only. Due to more people attracted toward those GPUs, Nvidia made its successor as Ampere Architecture for Regular Consumers.

Performance of new GPUs
There is no backlash in the performance of these new GPUs. User can play games in 8k resolution with 60fps in RTX 3090. Similarly in RTX 3080 up to 4k at 60fps. Nvidia promises to reduce latency by 50% and Temperatures by 30 Degrees. Although it may differ according to brands like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac, EVGA, Gainward, Colorful, Galaxy, Innovision 3D, Palit, PNY which can alter the cooling system and clocks. The pricing may also differ slightly according to these brands.
Pricing of GeForce RTX 30 Series
With low price and better performance, the new GPU’s are setting new benchmark. New Price of these GPU are as follows.
The new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is faster than RTX 2080Ti. It has 20 Shader-TFLOPS, 40 RT-TFLOPS, 163 Tensor-TFLOPS with 8GB G6 RAM. Similarly RTX 3080 is two times faster than RTX 2080. It has 30 Shader-TFLOPS, 58 RT-TFLOPS, 238 Tensor-TFLOPS with 10GB G6X RAM. Nvidia names this GPU as the new Flagship. Alongside this, RTX 3090 is a monster or called as Big Ferocious GPU (BFGPU). It has 36 Shader-TFLOPS, 69 RT-TFLOPS, 285 Tensor-TFLOPS with whopping 24GB G6X RAM. The Memory used in these GPU are the fastest memory till now which reaches up to speed of 21Gbps.
Details about these Numbers
The numbers provided by Nvidia seems to be difficult to understand for a normal person. We have simplified few things for easy understanding.
RTX stands for Ray Tracing. Ray Tracing improves the graphics quality by improving the lighting and shadows of objects in the games. It adds visual realism to the scenes. The reflections are more natural looking. It also simulates the optical effects.
Shader is a term used for showing the shadows after reflection in certain objects. It improves the lighting on objects surface where the light hits and properly draws a shadow and reflection of light from those object.
TFLOPS which is short to Teraflops is a capability of processor to calculate 1 trillion floating point operations in a second. For example a 20 TFLOPS means the processor can calculate 20million floating point in a second.
DLSS (Deep learning super sampling) is a Neural Network which helps to boost the frame rates while monitoring clear images. The Ray Tracing feature drops the frame rate but with DLSS on it compensates and help increases the frame rate to best possible level. DLSS runs on AI processors in GPU called Tensor Cores. These Tensor Cores are the main component for AI and Deep Learning Neural Networks. These Cores not only help in Gaming but also in AI tasks like machine learning and other AI related workloads.
These new GPU’s are going to be released in the market soon. Those people who were waiting for these series have done a great job considering the fact that 20 series was overpriced. But those unfortunates on who bought new 2070 or 2080Ti’s are regretting their decision. The RTX 20 series were not bad GPU but the pricing made them difficult for buyers. The price of those cards are dropping fiercely. The market is so hit that for the first month after release of new GPU’s these new card’s sale will be climbing up in chart almost vertically. It is also rumored that new RTX 3060 is going to be launched in November of this year. This might even be cheaper than RTX 3070 which could ultimately destroy the AMD Radeon GPU.
